A two-fer this session, with Part One comprising an all-lady adventure on the home front of the Grail Quest, and Part Two picking up with the usual gang, still under the thrall of the Black Hermit...

Featuring:

  1. Continuing adventures in audio: I've got the GM's (my) voice shifted into a central channel, but now there's an odd little clicking sound that comes and goes in little bursts here and there. Which now that I've pointed it out, will surely drive you, the listener, insane.

If it reappears next week, I'll be ready for it. In the words of Moss from The IT Crowd: "Bear with me...bear with me..."

    1. The audio was really nice and easy on the ears this time. The clicking was not nearly as annoying as it could have been.

  2. I didn't have much in the way of sound issues, but sweet merciful Grail what things happened this game. Two casting notes. I know it may not be accurate, but I now picture Cynrain as played by Sean Bean just to throw off his standard typecasting as 'the guy who dies' and the Black Hermit is Ray Liotta's crummy character from In the Name of the King

    1. Glad to hear you didn't have any issues with the audio. I'm probably getting overly fastidious about quality now...

I could definitely see Liotta as the Black Hermit!

  3. Wow, what a year. A battle, a conclusion to one adventure, and another adventure to wrap it all up. We don't know what happened to Gawain, either. And Arthur's getting up there - if he goes, what happens? (Is Gawain his heir, or is Mordred?)

Most importantly, that guy was shooting fire out of his eyes. Was that Superman?

    1. Gawaine had been the heir-presumptive prior to Mordred's paternity being established, but Arthur has not clarified the legalities or his preferences since. Either man could make a claim at this point.

Since I'll probably forget to mention it next session, Gawaine was captured by King Mark and ransomed back in exchange for safe passage out of the kingdom.

  4. See Jade, this is why you don't take the really nice car out of retirement when your friends ask you too. They promise they're going to treat it well and they're all attentive, and then you take your eyes off it and they leave it somewhere and you never see it again.

At least you taught Leander how to properly kill devils in knight armour. And for all the horse breeding.

  5. (In Denial) PFFT! As if Cynrain would die to a mere sinkhole and a castle falling on his head. He is immortal and can never die. He is like the Black Knight in Fire Emblem Path of Radiance he will be back.

    1. You know, that plot twist is a lot less pleasing when he got "buried" under a castle because I murdered the life out of him.

Count Cynrain: Abandoned in a dungeon at the age of 85 for two years, and then subsequently cast into the bowels of the Earth with the castle collapsing on top of him.

Status: Possibly Dead (7:4 odds in the Caligeris Memorial Betting Pool)

    2. I'll take that bet. Plus, Cynrain I think is in his 90's.

    3. Ah yes, he was born in 464 so he would've been 93 when his friends left him to die in a dungeon. If finding the Grail did result in the land being regenerated, maybe it brought him back to life and rejuvenated him so that he could plausibly survive long enough to make it to the end of the campaign!

It seems weird that Aging rolls don't get worse the older you get (e.g. you start making more at milestones so that you can't just Glory yourself to immortality).

    1. Hey, it was a completely prudent decision on your part. Critically so. This is the first instance of a Load Bearing Boss possibly in history.

Besides, a completely valid interpretation of events is that Cynrain stayed behind to make sure no debauched knights escaped, and then followed the Hermit into Hell to make sure he received his due punishment.

After all he had killed the devil earlier, so he had to make sure things were up to snuff.

    2. There's going to be a secret session with Jade. You'll see. Cynrain got out. He escaped in 556. Got to be. He CAN'T be dead yet.

    3. Not from Obsidian Portal there aren't!

  7. Wait, what happened to Cynrain's magic sword? The one that is supposed to kill the greatest knight in the world.

    1. I've been wondering about that too. A couple of options.

      1) As Morgan said, by giving the sword up (however temporarily) it lost its enchantment and is now just another sword.

      2) The Black Knight gave it to one of the debauched knights during the years, and it escaped with them when the castle collapsed.

      3) It's still in the rubble of the castle, and since no one has searched it yet it's available for any enterprising sorceress who's ready to take things into her own hands.

      4) When the castle collapsed it fell from where it was stashed and impaled Cynrain like in a Final Destination movie thereby fulfilling the prophecy.
