[Prophecies of Doom] "Gringle's Pawnshop" (Part II)

The party agrees to defend Gringle's Pawnshop from the baboon attack, but with reservations of their own. Will they be able to walk the fine line between honoring their agreement and minimizing simian bloodshed? And how will they handle the curveball coming their way?

  1. Applause to Gringle for having clearly encountered enough PCs to have them make his oath in the passive voice rather than the active voice. I will remember that trick.

Was it suggested in the adventure that the GM leave the table for the planning? It does reinforce the idea that the attack plans aren't going to be changed by PC action, but it did lead to at least one point of confusion, and if the GM wants to be unscrupulous they can alter plans once they're back at the table.

    1. This was sort of a mashup of the original "Apple Lane" scenario for RQ2 and the "Return to Apple Lane" scenario for Heroquest, so I can't remember where I saw it, but yeah--in one of those two, it suggested the GM leave the room and allow the players to plan things out on their own. Obviously, the assumption is that the players will set up a tactical, Alamo-style defense and this was...not that. But it was still fun getting to play the NPCs with no idea of what the players particularly had up their sleeves.
