This session, run at an undisclosed location at Gen Con 2015, was put on at the request of friends of the Order; it is set in the continuity of the GPC, albeit with randomly-generated characters, during the "missing time" experienced in the main narrative of the campaign, as established in the last session. Certain key campaign events occur during this year for the elucidation of the listener...
Note: Some sake, port, and/or brandy may or may not have been consumed over the course of the session, but I think everyone involved made their CON rolls. Judge for yourselves!

Thanks! I'm going to add them to the list.

DeleteI like to imagine that in 548 - which I know we're probably not going to hear - that far off in Rhydychen, a successful Intrigue roll is made, followed by a profanity tinged with vindication that he was right not to forgive after all these years, and then a great army of horses depart.
ReplyDeleteAnd in 550 when the players get back there is no more Saxon kingdom, but a few stories about Cynrain's still got it.
I'm sitting here thinking, "Imagine all the thrilling Pendragon lawyer action we missed out on. They must have had some thrilling law battles back then when they spoke Latin - I mean, we get such great phrases as Ex Post Facto.
ReplyDeleteBut no, I jest. I am in fact impressed that Sir 14 Hit Points was neither killed nor left bedridden during the course of the game. I suppose having allies devoted to keeping you alive may do that.
I'm also a little curious about how much you had planned for that first adventure - it sounded like it could have either been intended as a quick test of traits and/or skills, or as a long, investigative adventure.
It seems like a test of traits, because Knights aren't MEANT to go on investigating things. That sounds suspiciously like work. They sit and judge the character of the people involved, and if there's a dispute they fight it out and declare the winner was in the right. I'm wondering if Dave had a stack of character sheets that he wanted to just keep bringing out at every new scene. Do his best to top his five characters from last time.
DeleteAlso, sorry Percival but you're not the Grail Hero in this campaign! Better luck next time.
Oh, I was fully prepared for them to head off to Oxford and get into some lawyer shit. But they opted for trial by combat, so there we went! I'll have to shelve my lawyer scenarios for my Law and Order: Camelot pitch.
DeleteOnly because Sir 14hp has a deathwish. Why would he opt to become a knight otherwise?
DeleteClearly he believes very passionately in his causes, and it's that inner fire that kept him alive through Squiredom. That or he was constantly bullied for his obvious ridiculous SIZ/CON stats, and now that he's been knighted he's gotten his dander up and wants to remind everyone that he's tough now.
DeleteI also am calling him Sir 14 HP. It's briefer than "Sir Jade-Has-Done-More-Than-Four-Times-My-Maximum-Hit-Points-In-Damage-Before"
I was totally prepared for going to Oxford as well. Sir Claudure's Law was up to the task...but who can deny Dave a chance to have yet another character die?
DeleteWho indeed, Susan.
DeleteWho indeed.
Cael. The answer is Cael.
Law and Order: Camelot: Trial by combat is the norm, and it's still less violent than most police procedurals.
DeleteI'll keep my fingers crossed.
As to why Sir 14hp would become a knight - well, I never really figured you got that much choice in the matter. Your father was a knight, and you're the eldest son, so you're gonna be one, too. That makes one imagine the older, retired knights living vicariously through their children ("What? Three against one? Pfah! He can take all twelve of you, you Saxon dogs!")
Youngest son. Sir 14hp was the seventh son.
