I just realized that, tonally, this is pretty much the polar opposite of last week's Night Witches session...

ReplyDeleteThis is so damn delightful. I'm in my happy place.
ReplyDeleteits interesting, and a good salve for grim RP, but I'm not really sure what the point of it is. its more of an RP exercise than anything else, but yeah, its kinda cute.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely on the side of aimless fun, especially compared with the thematic and plot-direct RPGs that we're known to run as per usual.
DeleteI would imagine that longer campaigns would work towards emotional character development over world-changing story events, but the core book is surprisingly open with its options.
Personally I'd probably run something close to an anime serial/episodic hybrid if I were to do Ryuutama in a campaign.
That was fun, especially when filtered through Mr. Schimpff's well-tuned sense of whimsical humor. I did however keep hearing one character's name as "Hanukkah," but I suppose that's what happens in the middle of winter.
ReplyDeleteThe ending to this episode might have given me the diabeetus.
ReplyDeleteYou celebrated your third anniversary of eldritch horrors, alternate hellscape pasts, and declining golden ages of fantasy with such a fantastic counterpoint!
Sounds like it was a good time. I wonder where evil pirate goblins go on their journeys?
