Yes, the Peanut Gallery is always judgemental and critical of your of your play, while also being naturally appreciative and supportive of course. The absence of the background music was definitely felt this week, though I imagine with the echoing problems had you been playing it that might've made things worse.
ReplyDeleteWhile we're in retcon mode, it seems like you also retconned the fact that Leander (as well as Daig and Tathan II) still had to face the trials at that castle. Leander got KO'd in Round 1, and was resting up until the start of Round 2. He managed to successfully bluster his way past an entire trial, which is impressive.
Honestly if he wasn't part of their most hated clan, I bet he and the Orkney knights would have been the best of friends.
I think you're making the same mistake as Leander - the de Gales clan is the one hated by the Orkneys (though I don't think Mordred - or probably Agrovaine - much care for the de Ganis knights either).
DeleteAs for Gawaine, I started thinking if any of these knights were around during the Grey Knight adventure, but that was probably almost thirty years ago. Even Leander and Daig were probably just children back then (though Perry's family might have been involved?). Time flies in Pendragon.
So many mistakes could have been avoided if Leander would just remember who he did and didn't like. Perhaps Brad should start keeping notes, and having a refresher course before each major events.
DeleteYeah, chalk that one up to pure exhaustion and discombobulation on both our parts--moving really takes a lot out of you. Hell, I even *had* notes reminding me that Leander still had two challenges yet to face and it still slipped my mind. C'est la vie. We had a blast anyway. Despite the snafu, I hope you enjoyed listening!
Delete(Background music *should* be back next week...)
Max: I swear, it took me years before I stopped occasionally confusing the de Ganis and de Gales clans. And yeah, the Grey Knight adventure was indeed nearly 30 years ago! Looking back at my posts, I wish I'd thought to put a note of which character each player was playing each year, like I did with our very first Cthulhu by Gaslight campaign.
It was a blast to listen to! I'm left with a lot of questions about the Kingdom, but I guess with Daig's amazing and soon-to-be-legendary song the odds of anyone going back to explore it would be minimal. I'm guessing that the cave with the foul smelling odour is probably the true source of power since it seems to fit with the idea of the idyllic kingdom masking something terrible. Also, given how people recognised King Farion from so long ago, will Bleoberis slowly lose his identity and become the King that the land demands, driven mad by his inability to recognise anything from his former life? So many mysteries will be lost.
DeleteMy highlight from this session was the moment of mafia-like collusion among the knights where they're discussing how an "accident" might befall Bleoberis's quest to finish the quest, and then their absolute horror that this action has somehow cost them a point of Honour.
There's a ton of other stuff they didn't even come close to encountering, too. The whole kingdom is essentially a sandbox, and you'd pretty much have to canvas the entire map in order to put together a picture of what's *really* going on...
DeleteWell, my thought when coming to the Castle of Bright Magic was that the armour on display was the armour of the last knight to accompany the Prince (and King prior to Bleoberis?) which means they were close to the "end" of the journey to be King. Every scenario struck me of an example of whimsy hiding horror, and the feast where you can be content, eat forever and have fascinating conversation as the world ages around you.
DeleteArgh, if only they had more ageless time.
You know David, I wish you had put up character names in the episodes too. It's been bugging me since the beginning because I always got mixed up. Even better would've been a soundbite from each player saying which characters they are playing. Because I didn't listen to every episode in order, it took me quite a while to finally connect all the player names and voices correctly.
DeleteDid you see Sir Leander skip that test in the Kingdom of the Circle of Gold?
ReplyDeleteYeah, and I wish he'd just skipped the whole thing!

DeleteSir Longhop!
DeleteI am remarkably invested in the protection and continuation of the Frog Kingdom. I think I would be almost as crushed as the last time if anything were to happen to them.
DeleteYou know, the latest song by Sir Daig is pretty good!
ReplyDeleteOf course it is, he's not in it!
